The historical Laurel Hill State Park which features some of the last standing architecture from the civilian conservation corps has been vandalized.
The state parks maintenance team discovered the vandalism in August and State Police began an investigation immediately.
The buildings destroyed had immense historical and cultural value.
The destroyed architecture is irreplaceable since much of it was built in the 1930’s and building materials are no longer being produced.
Kelsey Hope the Assistant Park Manager says, “This is very upsetting to our park complex. We have a lot of pride in our C.C.C architecture, we actually have one of the largest collection is in the state of Pennsylvania, and we work very hard to maintain these buildings for their cultural and historical significance. They, you know, there's not going to be more of these built.”
On the state parks Facebook page there are persons of interest photos, but right now there is no lead as laurel hill state park rangers and police continue this investigation.
If anyone has any information park rangers ask you to contact their office at 814-445-7725.
