JENNERSTOWN - Jenner Township Assistant Fire Chief Mike Novak is calling Corey’s Corral in Somerset County a total loss after an overnight fire.
Fire crews were called to the bar around 2:10 a.m. Friday.
The bar had closed less than one hour before the crews arrived on scene.
Officials said there was no one inside the two-story structure when the fire started.
Novak said it took eight different fire crews to help put out the flames.
He added that the building, which has been home to various businesses over the past few decades, was demolished.
"We pumped a lot of water, so everything went well," Novak said. "As good as can be expected in a fire like this."
Friday afternoon, some people stopped by to see what happened.
"It's unfortunate. You hope that buildings like this can stand for a heck of a lot longer," former customer Dustin Gesser said. It's a shame to see them go like that."
Gesser lives nearby.
"It wasn't a bar that we frequented, but's a local nearby establishment that was nice and convenient to ride my snow mobile to, and just a good place to stop and buy a six pack or something if you needed to."
No injuries were reported, and a state police fire marshal is expected to investigate the cause of the fire Monday.
