Corsica man accused of abandoning two dogs at Jefferson Co. home

State police in Punxsutawney say a Corsica man is facing charges after being accused of abandoning two dogs at a home in Union Township.

Troopers say in August, investigators received multiple complaints about the two animals being left outside at a home along Howe Road.

Authorities say the reported owner of the dogs, 26-year-old Brandon Geer, had allegedly "moved out" of the home several weeks prior and never returned to check on them.

Police say, according to witnesses, the dogs were "malnourished" and one of the animals allegedly had "wounds all over its body."

Troopers also noted that the dogs' rib and hip bones were visible and confirmed that there were wound and sores all over their bodies.

Investigators say the dogs were seized and received medical treatment from a local veterinarian before being transported to the Elk County Humane Society.

Troopers say after months of trying to contact Geer about the situation, charges of animal neglect and cruelty to animals were filed against him in November.

According to online court records, Geer was finally arraigned on the aforementioned charges this week and he was released on unsecured bail.
