MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (WJAC) — Authorities have identified the man killed by a U.S. Marshals Service officer near West Virginia University.
According to NBC affiliate WSAZ, 25-year-old Donquale Gray was wanted by federal authorities for allegedly shooting and wounding an officer in Virginia.
Virginia State Police issued a wanted person alert in mid-February asking for the public's help in locating Gray after a Bluefield officer was shot during a traffic stop.
Gray was located Wednesday afternoon in Morgantown, West Virginia, just outside the WVU campus.
University and city police alerted the public that officers were responding to reports of shots fired near College Avenue and Falling Run.
Morgantown police later confirmed that Gray exchanged gunfire with U.S. marshals and was killed. Police did not say if there were any other injuries or victims involved in the shooting.
