DUBOIS, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a former police officer has been sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty to various charges in connection to a shooting last February at a DuBois-area bar.
Officials say Zachery Dodson appeared in court Wednesday where he was sentenced to serve 1 to 2 years in either the Jefferson or Clarion county jail, following by 96 months (8 years) of probation.
Dodson pleaded guilty last month to charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and reckless endangerment after he was accused of shooting another man following an altercation at the Invictus Bar last year.
District attorney Ryan Sayers says that prosecutors argued for Dodson to be sentenced to state prison, but due to the open plea agreement, the judge sentenced him to serve time in county jail.
As part of his sentence, authorities say Dodson will also never be allowed to serve as a law enforcement officer again and he is prohibited from possessing any firearms.
