Wilkes-Barre, PA — Authorities say a 13-year-old girl is being charged as an adult with homicide after stabbing a woman to death inside a home in Pennsylvania on Friday.
Police say they were called to the scene around noon for a report of an unresponsive woman who was not breathing.
When they arrived, they found the 44-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds to her neck, back and heavy blood flowing from her head.
They also found an 11-year-old boy on the scene with apparent stab wounds to the back, but they appeared to be non-life threatening.
The adult woman was later pronounced dead by the coroner inside the house.
According to an affidavit, 13-year-old Lataya Powell was inside the home and told authorities that she was responsible for the killing.
The affidavit also states that Powell threw the weapon used in the crimes on the porch next door.
She has been charged with homicide, aggravated assault, and evidence tampering.
