Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — The Fourth of July spectacular in Centre County, known as Fourth Fest, will be returning to its former glory as an all-day event in State College and on the Penn State campus.
Due to the pandemic, and other issues, Fourth Fest was scaled down in recent years.
Organizers announced that the Firecracker 4k run and walk, the Independence Day parade, music, food trucks, and other festivities will all be returning this Fourth of July, along with the famed fireworks show in the evening.

Funeral held for tow truck driver killed last weekend
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — A tow truck driver was killed last weekend while he was working on the side of Interstate 80. Friday, his funeral was held in State College.
Folks at the service couldn't be saying nicer things about Jim Corl. You can hear in their voices how much they miss the man who put the "Happy" in Happy Valley.

Johnstown Mainline Pharmacy secures city's 2nd AAABA national title in thrilling victory
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The city of Johnstown now has its second AAABA national title.
Johnstown Mainline Pharmacy beat the New Orleans Boosters Saturday night at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point to secure the city’s second championship since 2018.
Johnstown took the lead early and didn't look back, taking a lead of three to two.
They were able to hold on to that lead sealing the deal with a strike out.

Officials applying for funding to expand Blair County airport
Blair County, PA — Airport manager Tracy Plessinger says the travel experience could soon change at the Altoona/Blair County airport, and that the airport is submitting it's candidacy for funding. Airlines there include Contour which connects people in central PA to Philadelphia and beyond, with 2 flights per day. Contour is an operator with American Airlines flights, which Plessinger says means you don't have to recheck your bags, or have 2 tickets.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A city council in Oregon discussed an agenda item called "Communication from Various Parties Regarding the Use of Public Restrooms based on Gender Identity.”
It was on the docket on Monday's Newport City Council meeting. I personally witnessed a person who appeared to be a man, openly dressing in the women's locker room. 150 animals rescued from Washington, Westmoreland County properties
(WJAC) — Authorities say 150 animals were rescued from two residential properties in in Washington and Westmoreland counties in what humane society officials are calling an alleged large-scale neglect situation.
The Washington Area Humane Society, with the assistance of the Humane Society of the United States, seized 150 cats, kittens, dogs and chickens. According to the Humane Society of the United States, local authorities served search and seizure warrants on two residential properties early Wednesday morning.

May 7th is recognized as National Fentanyl Awareness Day.
“Which is kind of a newer one on the calendar because of the destruction that fentanyl has done to the communities,” said Peter Loehner, a Case Manager at Personal Solutions Inc.
